Buying a used car will unquestionably save you money. But before buying a used car, you need to know about the vehicle’s past. Was the car ever salvaged in a major wreck? Has the car ever been in a flood? Or is the odometer correct? Before you buy a used car take a thorough test drive, get it inspected by a trusted mechanic, and order a CARFAX Vehicle History Report.
Question by tyzekiel: What agency should I talk to if I want to report a scam involving buying used cars online?
I had a car for sale on an online site and I got an email offering to buy my car for the advertised price. This guy wants to send me a check for $ 10,000 for a $ 4,000 car. And then wants me to send him a check back for the balance, ok, obviously a scam. My question is who do I report this to? I already filed a complaint/observation with the FBI, but they are taking their sweet time to get back to me. I haven’t actually been scammed yet, but if an agency wanted to work with me we could probably catch this guy. Thanks for any help.
