SchoolInsight Receives SIF Certification for Oklahoma School Districts

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Elmhurst, IL (PRWEB) October 03, 2011

Common Goal Systems is pleased to announce that its web-based student information system, SchoolInsight, has completed the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) certification process. This allows SchoolInsight to be used by Oklahoma school districts to automatically submit data to The Wave, the statewide longitudinal data system.

SIF certification supports our effort to provide Oklahoma school districts with quality, comprehensive products, says Mike Xakellis, CEO for Common Goal Systems. Were excited to offer districts another choice in student information systems. SchoolInsight is very intuitive, and educators save time instead of struggling with technology. Currently, a number of Oklahoma districts are piloting SchoolInsight and its integration with The Wave.

SIF is a standard that enables diverse educational software applications to interact and share data. Oklahoma school districts can select any student information system that is SIF and Wave certified. SchoolInsight now meets those criteria.

Common Goal Systems (http://www.common-goal.com) provides web-based services to help educators work more efficiently. In addition to SchoolInsight, it also develops TeacherEase, one of the first web-based gradebooks. Using the Software as a Service (SaaS) model, the company offers its products via the Internet and is responsible for all system operation and maintenance. Founded in 2001, Common Goal Systems has hundreds of thousands of users worldwide.

Question by Alex Paryzer: What are your short term goals in high school? Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Can someone give me an example of your short term goals that you’ve done in high school? And where do you see yourself 10 years from now.

Answer by DeanF
Holy crap, what a retarded question. I would beat the crap out of someone who asked me that in high-school – how in the hell could you know?

High-school goals to tell a grown-up:

-Get an A average.
-Become the quarterback/captain/lead player of a chosen sports team that the school values.
-Become valedictorian/important student/president of an important club.

High-school goals to -really- have:

-Get wasted and shag lots of girls, but make sure they don’t get knocked up!
-play hooky but take the tests and get good marks anyways.
-Avoid the losers, don’t get into fights, don’t get sick from the awful cafeteria food.

In 10 years?

-Hopefully on a beach somewhere with no memory WHATSOEVER of your highschool years!!! HA!

Hiring A Web Designer For School Website Design

Article by Webguru India

Nowadays every company and institution needs to have an online presence. The owners of the entities need to be careful when they hire website designer for their companies or institutions. Owing to the advancements in technology, designing a website is not difficult at all but a designer needs more than just powerful web development apps to create compelling website for a client. A website designer needs to be skilled and experienced for designing the website of a school. This is essential because making the website for an educational institution is quite different from making a website for a company that sells products. The school authorities should consider several aspects carefully before they hire a website designer for making web site of the school. The school authorities need to ensure that the web designer has expertise in designing website for educational entities. The professional web developers have their websites where they have a portfolio section. The web designers who have designed school websites previously keep the samples of their work in portfolios. The web design firms also have testimonial sections containing the excerpts from their satisfied clients. There are two sure fire ways to assess the expertise of a web designer or a web development firm.

A web designer who has expertise in school website designing asks the school authorities for the information about the institution, its history and student activities. A professional web designer should collect the required images and content from the school authorities before delving into school website design. He may also showcase the initial layout for the homepage to the management for approval.

The school authorities looking forward to hiring a veteran website designer also need to know what platform and technologies are going to be used for the website design. If the school is not very large and does not have a lot of students, CMS based websites may fit the bill. However, for a big school with student base running into thousands, a database driven website made with PHP or XML would be the ideal thing. The school management should also consult the web designer to ensure he has the expertise to update the site in future depending on the requirement. The kind of site hosting and security measures applied in the site also needs to be considered in this respect. The school websites contain contact and address information of the students and the teachers. Hence, adequate security measures need to be present in the site to thwart the hackers.

The school management also needs to ensure that web design firm making the school website puts in a contact section for the parents of the students. They should be able to post their queries and complaints about the school in the website easily. This will lead to enhanced student-teacher interaction. A section should be there in the website which will contain the academic achievement of the talented students and records of extracurricular activities.

The visual aspect of a school website is of utmost importance. The web designers making a school website should use subtle, muted colors and legible text in the site. The website should not look too flashy. The navigation also needs to be user friendly. Appropriate images relating to the school need to be used and the content should be presented in a visually appealing format.

If you are just getting started, there are several contract/invoice formats available on the net for you to follow. Better still, set forth your points and let the client take care of the legal jargon. Just make sure you know what you are signing up for, as these contracts will help you look for more freelance or offline jobs in future. What is the best website design school in America?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Question by Matt D: What is the best website design school in America?
I want to get an education in website design. I already have a decent background in web design, so the basic classes aren’t enough. I would like to find a school that goes deep into the coding, mobile applications, css, java, video, flash, html, and other interactive design platforms, essentially the future of web design. I want to physically attend the school, NOT take online classes, I’m just having trouble finding which school would be the best for my situation.
