I had a car for sale on an online site and I got an email offering to buy my car for the advertised price. This guy wants to send me a check for $ 10,000 for a $ 4,000 car. And then wants me to send him a check back for the balance, ok, obviously a scam. My question is who do I report this to? I already filed a complaint/observation with the FBI, but they are taking their sweet time to get back to me. I haven’t actually been scammed yet, but if an agency wanted to work with me we could probably catch this guy. Thanks for any help.

There are many companies online which are scams. This is something we can do nothing about but we can do things to not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of by scam companies. But many companies receive the a reputation for being a scam and they in fact are not scams. We decided to investigate one such company call the Starnest scam.
Starnest is a reputable company that operates in New York, NY and has been in business for over six years. If they were a scam they would not have been in business for the last six years with their domain pre-paid and registered for the next 10 years. It look like this company wants to stay in business for many years to come and this is not a trait of scam companies.
Let me explain why Starnest is not a scam. Many Real Estate Brokerages are accused of being scams because of the intricacies involved in the real estate industry. It is easy to point the blame on a real estate deal gone bad on any company involved with the transaction but it is a fact the real estate involves many companies and if any one of the companies involved makes a mistake then all of the companies can be blamed for their mistake.
If you were to take a trip to the Starnest office you will also see many reasons why Starnest is not a scam.
