Do you know that feeling of disappointment when your rental car was not the Toyota Land Cruiser suggested by the booking form, but a Hyundai Tucson! Well, my holidayautos.com -nightmare did not end in that: when driving up the Sani Pass in South Africa – a road strictly for 4x4s – I discovered that the Tucson was not a 4×4 at all, but a front-wheel-drive! At that stage, unfortunately, it was too late and the car had to be towed from the mountain pass…After my otherwise nice vacation, I was of course expecting some sort of an apology and reimbursement from Holidayautos, but the customer service (after 5 weeks of waiting) denied mistake from their part, any reimbursement was denied, and I was even accused of negligent driving! I am pasting the customer service responses below…but can’t believe a big name like Holidayautos can be such a scam! Googling for customer reviews, everybody seemed to have a really bad experience with this company.

Google Adsense Abuse for iPhone Jailbreak Software QuickPwn

The Problem
I was googling for, "jailbreak iphone 3G S" since I won a new iPhone at the BlogggingWhileBrown conference Friday night and need to stay in the know for when I can use my new phone with T-mobile. I saw QuickPwn.com in the search results and was a bit confused. I knew it was a piece of software but not that there was a site for it as well. I went on to investigate.

A cybersquatter came in and registered the domain quickpwn.com and the entire site is plastered with Google Adsense. The person who created the site is "encouraging clicks" by plastering 85% of the site with advertising. There is almost no content on the site. One post has less than 40 words and the rest is all Google Adsense.

You Can Help

Review the site quickpwn.com and determine if you think it’ violates the guidelines
Visit the Google Adsense Support page to review the guidelines
Submit a violation report to Google Adsense

This hurts businesses who are paying for the advertising as they don’t know it’s showing up on his website in what I deem to be an unprofessional way.

I witnessed a crime

and didn’t twig what I was seeing until it was too late.

I happened to glance out of the window and saw a man trotting to and fro. I was watching something good on TV so didn’t really register it. However, when I saw him go past the 5th time, then jump into a van with an old fridge freezer on top parked out side my house, I got curious, wandered to the window and found that pile of rubbish by the barrier.

However, I had seen him go to the door of my neighbour and talk to him and so I wonder if what actually happened here was the old scam of offering to take some rubbish away for a few quid and then simply dumping it up the road.

Update: Following a posting on Harringayonline, I discovered the people I saw had been working the neighbourhood that evening. I phoned through a report to the Safer Neighbourhood Team for Harringay. I did not, however, get a response from them. What a surprise!

and of course this appeared the next day
