Where is the best place online to get free credit reports without paying or getting sucked into a scam?

Entering the market to buy a house and want to make sure my credit report is accurate, first I must apply for a loan. I know there are Companys as Credit Cards. com but you have to register them and then you have to cancel before you are billed. I want to avoid all that and just see my credit reports.

If you want to buy a credit score, only buy the Equifax(FICO) one. The other 2(FAKO) mortgage lenders will not care about.

I agree with the first contributor http://www.annualcreditreport.com. Make sure you remember your last view places of residences to ensure that the report is accurate. It doesn’t take long through them.

It is suggested that you request one from each agency in 3 months increments and not all 3 at once to ensure that verify any activity in your report, i.e. Report in January, compare with report from April from another agency, etc.

This way you’ll be able to monitor your report throughout the year rather than just get them all for the same time frame.

And those commercials you see on the telly (probably freecreditreport.com) about free credit report, if you look at the bottom of the screen or in the fine print, it’s only free if you subscribe to their service.

Also, if you have been denied credit recently, you are entitled to a free credit report.

If you have any family in the business, they can pull your credit report. I was told this because I have family in the mortgage business, not that I would let my family in on my personal financial matters.

    Good Luck.
